Snow Dreams Come True!

Ever since the temperature has been dropping I have been thinking about snow. To my luck, I was able to enjoy this season's first snowfall at Lake Tahoe. I got myself some used cross country skis and boots from Truckee's The Back Country thebackcountry.net and the guys were really helpful and told me where to take a test run. I ended up xc skiing at Sugar Bowl Ski Resort sugarbowl.com for the first time in about twenty years. What a great day! I was jazzed the whole eight hours driving back home. Just wishing the snow was not so far away.

Today's Run-Miserably Wet But Really Fun

Now that the weather has turned to rain and cold the wood stove will be burning (for the next six months). I could find many excuses not to exercise. But my goal this fall is to keep running even when the weather is poor. I do not have any marathons planned at this time so my running goal is basically going to be consistent running so that when the surf is fun or it is time to go snowboarding, I will have the stamina and strength to play as long as I want.
Todays Run: 6 miles
Week's Goal: 35 miles
Today I went out to test out my new Gore-tex Nike Pegasus trail shoes. I waited until the rain subsided and ended up in a thunder/hail storm three miles out. I could not have been any wetter. Is wetter a real word? It was so much fun.

So while the rain was pounding down I was able to get in my zen moment and think about knitting. Right now, I am obsessed with opening a yarn shop in my little town of Trinidad, California. I knit all day and work on my wholesale knitwear line so it would only make sense to open a shop where I can be surrounded by beautiful yarns and still work and knit, right? But what to name it....
I am thinking of calling it Knitty Kitty and Knotty Dog.
Knit Goals: Find a store front to rent out for my potential yarn shop. Now that the clouds have parted and the sun is shining, I'm off to look for a guy name Ned who owns a possible storefront I would like to rent.

Welcome

Welcome! The Athletic Knitter is a site focusing on goals and improvements in exercise, running a small business, and knitting life.
I am a knit designer from the coast of northern California. I love being active running, snowboarding, surfing, and always knitting. While enjoying exercising I like to plan out my daily goals and plans for running a wholesale knitwear business (as well as my non business knit projects) and remember what I am thankful for in life, particularly my family. Tea and knitting are always nearby.
